Setup ADP

Perform the following steps:

  1. Install Clustered Data ONTAP version 8.3 or higher
  2. Bring both the nodes to Maintenance mode and un-own all the disks
    1. Depending on the state of the storage system you may need to release disk reservations and destroy mailbox disks first (run on each node while in Maint Mode):
      storage release disks
      mailbox destroy local
      mailbox destroy partner
    2. disk remove_ownership all (this will remove the ownership of all disks attached to the system)
    3. Confirm all disks unowned: disk show (you may need to do the command twice)
  3. Halt both nodes
  4. Set the environment variable on each node: setenv root-uses-shared-disks? true
(The ? in the command is required. DO NOT remove it)
  5. Save the environment variable:
    saveenv
  6. Run the boot_ontap command on node 1
  7. Press Ctrl + C for the special boot menu and choose Option 4 – the storage system will reboot and commence zeroing(wait for the dots).
  8. Run the boot_ontap command on node 2
  9. Press Ctrl + C for special boot menu and choose Option 4 – the storage system will reboot and commence zeroing.
Once the zeroing completes, the cluster setup is started and normal operations can begin.
